Data trap
International Paper's reported results still combine the North American and EMEA packaging businesses, and the EMEA half carries a $2.47 billion goodwill impairment taken at 2025-12-31. Any trailing IP margin or book-value figure reflects that write-down and a business that is leaving.
Still live.

Notes
The only announced deal on this calendar whose structure a filing states outright — the Q2 2026 10-Q calls it a spinoff — but not a clean one: International Paper expects to retain about 20 percent, and the EMEA business is expected to list on both the London Stock Exchange and the NYSE. A retained stake of that size caps the real float and creates a known overhang. Note for anyone re-checking the provenance: the standalone separation press release was never filed on EDGAR, so the announcement exists there only inside the earnings exhibit. A $2.47 billion goodwill impairment against PS EMEA was recorded at 2025-12-31 in connection with the separation review.
