Every spin-off calendar surveyed on 2026-08-21 still carried this deal as upcoming, most of them dating it to mid-2026. It was called off on 2026-02-27, and not softly: the Paramount Skydance merger agreement makes WBD's not having completed the separation a condition of closing, so proceeding would break the merger. A calendar that tracks announcements without reading the filings that retract them will keep this row alive indefinitely.

Announced 2025-06-09 as a tax-free pro-rata separation of Global Networks — CNN, TNT Sports, Discovery — from Streaming & Studios, and later named Discovery Global. It never got as far as a registration statement. Netflix agreed to acquire the Streaming & Studios side in December 2025, and that deal was itself superseded in February 2026 by a Paramount Skydance merger whose terms require the separation not to happen. Kept on this site as a terminated deal rather than deleted: the record of a spin-off that was called off is worth as much as one that completed, and it is the clearest case for reading filings rather than trusting calendars.
